Getting there:
At 150 Mile House turn east onto Horsefly Road, after about 4.5km go left on Likely Road. Follow it for 80km to the very small town of Likely, the put-in is at the boat launch.
To reach the take-out follow a gravel road west to Quesnel Forks which is about 13km away, as the road steepens you've arrived at the historic ghost town, there is a nice rec site here to camp at the confluence of the Quesnel and Cariboo Rivers.
River Level
50cm/s Low
85cm/s Medium
130cm/s High
250cm/s Very High with huge holes!
What it's like.
At the right level there are good play waves just downstream of the bridge below the put-in at an old collapsed bridge.
The first half of the run has some steeper rapids with big waves, but nothing above class III. About halfway down there is a steep cliff on the left with big waves and boiley eddy lines, the "Bullion Pit". It ends in a big eddy on the right (it's possible to take-out/put-in here too).
Downstream follow several rapids with good waves and play spots before "Devil's Eyebrow". Scout on the left. The rapid entrance is formed by a big breaking wave/hole, "Deep Throat" and is followed by an S-turn of turbulent and boiley water through a narrow nozzle. The take-out is only 2km below.
There are further sections on the Quesnel River downstream which require a long drive.
