The Kalum River is the 'bread and butter’ kayak run in Terrace, BC.
The put in for this section is currently situated on private property. To avoid any potential loss of access from the sale of this land , the locals decided to be proactive and investigate alternate access points. BCWW teamed up with the local paddling community and BCWW ambassador Caleb Brousseau to secure a permanent put in.
BCWW worked with the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, the Ministry of Transport and the local BC Recreation Sites and Trails officer to identify a hidden ‘right of way’ to the river. After communicating with local stake holder’s, a plan has been put in place to construct a permanent trail to the river.
We hope to share more on this project in the near future.
